We & They

Father, Mother & Me,
Sister & Auntie say
Alle the people like us are We

Weekend trip to Ephesus

Slowly I am getting used to the Turkish understanding of the words IN time. After spending two hours in the cold night in front of the administration building of the university the second bus also arrived.. finally. Waiting & not being able to sleep makes you addicted to cookies and all the other unhealty food everybody bought for the loooooong bus ride. One reason for staying awake was also the trip with the fairy. About an hour over the silent but bright lightening sea with a hot cay in your hand - cok guzel.

Still tired but full of expactations we finally arrived in Ephesus.

Up on the hill me made our wishes come true by hanging them on a wall in front of the house of the Virgin Mary

I am slowly becoming addiceted to bracelets - as was expacted
but they are are symbol for friendship and...

After more than three weeks I am now able to tell the dolmus driver that he should stop where I want to get out. I don´t remember what I said in detail and I am not able to write it down in Turkish language but the result was that he stopped - DUR ;)

Misson of the day: get some new FLAT shoes
(because the high heels dind`t survive saturday night, you remember?)

Going by bus to Kadiköy but this time rebellious because the automat didn`t work. But maybe it was just like a kind of bonus card - get one ride free for ten stamped ones?! This would definitely be a good idea.
Be carfeful - don´t talk to loud in the bus this effects grumpy Turkish people.

You shouldn`t take the bus at around 6pm.. it takes ages and people are even more rude when you forget you should better not talk.. (we have been exhorted twice) so better listen to music on your ipod and hope that the crowed streets are getting a bit more empty.

At about 8pm the food bazar in front of the university is closing so when we arrived we could see all the Turkish women going home with huge bags of vegetables, maybe it is cheaper at the end of the day?

The acient name of the island is "Halki" which is descent from the word "Halkos" meaning "copper" in the old Greek language.

The tale of the postcard 

Postcard is the term for the thin rectangular piece of paper with or without pictures. It comes in different sizes and can be send without en envelope which is cheaper than a letter. Since there are many different versions it is mystery when the first postcard was printed & sent. The first picture postcards monotonous with small pictures and had pale colors. Later it became a widely postal method thanks to developments in printing techniques and increased paper quality. The period from 1897 to 1914 was the golden age of the postcard.
